Small Change Screen Print
£75.00
In 2019, as part of my PhD research, I made a print that I called ‘Change’. It was about whether and how much change is possible, not fully answering yes or no, it offered hope in the possibility of change. In 2025, in the week I’ve graduated, I made a smaller version of this long sold-out print. I made it reflecting on my own ability or inablity to change habits, built up over time, both good and bad. The wavy lines reflect those habits: they are lines that inherit conditions from the lines below them. Where tiny fluctuations in pen pressure or wobbles on the page are amplified over time as they’re repeated and this reflects the way our repeated actions shape our personality and views. In the centre of the image is a shimmering disc, the hope of a saintly halo, a shimmering sun or a illusory heat haze. In the circle, the pattern changes, to be ruled straight lines with no fluctuations or variations. These could be these the straight and narrow paths leading to hopeful futures for our world and climate, if we restrict our growth and ambition, but they do also have the possibility of being the strictures of oppressive regimes, it’s our choice.
They have been printed by hand onto 250gsm Somerset Satin printmaking paper. The paper size is approx 28.5×28.5 cm with hand torn or deckled edges and the printed area is 18x18cm. The edition size is 18. The circle is hand finished with imitation gold leaf, the background is a shimmering pearl colour and the lines are printed in a blend of greys from light to dark. These are handmade items and some variation is to be expected between prints in an edition. Every care has been taken to show accurate colours but these are hard prints to photograph and look different in every light situation.
They will be sent unframed in a sturdy cardboard package and postage within the UK is included. Shipping to other destinations is available and if your location is listed as not available, send me a message and I’ll find out the shipping costs to where you are. Delays and charges imposed at customs are not the seller’s responsibility.
