Gravity is a surprisingly weak force, yet its effects over time form stars, planets and shape everything that exists. It’s a universal constant yet it creates a variety of worlds and forms. The shapes in this print formed slowly and gradually, accreting into bumps and fissures. If I continued the process the shape would be filled, perfect and complete, yet I chose to show it in it’s half finished state. What are the unseen forces that shape us as people? what draws us together and pulls us apart as families, tribes, nations? What we see now is not the end result, but a moment subject to change. Which way will we go?

This print is made using screen print with a metal leaf circle. It is printed on Zerkall printmaking paper which is slightly off-white, smooth and features deckled or torn edges. There is an approx 5cm border around the printed area. The background is printed using a pearlescent ink and the detail layer is graduated from lighter grey at the to to darker grey at the bottom.
