Back in the heady days of summer I bought some neon paints by Amsterdam Acrylics and with them, I’ve made a series of mini paintings in (what I hope is) a really bright trashy style.
These are a little experiment in loosening up my painting, becoming freer with the brush and allowing the painting process to take over, becoming less self-conscious and more intuitive. I included some writing from the depths of my subconscious, I love it when words come together that I hadn’t planned because I often find more meaning in them. This, to me, seems a very strange way of working. There’s a big part of me that likes things to be rational, explainable and make sense and this process doesn’t at all, yet I really like the results of it.
The paintings are all 4 inches square on Daler Rowney heavyweight paper and made with the aforementioned Amsterdam Acrylics, Golden fluid acrylics and Posca acrylic pens. I’m thinking of mounting them and offering them for sale on Etsy if people would be interested. Let me know in the comments.
So here’s some colour for a dull November day:
