Gelli printing play

Art

today was an interesting day. I went to visit Leith School of Art to see about taking their printmaking course from September. Talking about printing got my creative inspiration going so, with this afternoon’s meeting cancelled and an unexpected couple of hours clear I got to play.

I knew I wanted to do something simple and bold so I started doodling in thick black marker, just to give me a starting point. Then I cut some frames from card and used them to find interesting patterns and shapes within the doodles.

I cut some paper masks in those shapes and used them to mask off areas of the white card then printed my final colours in transparent acrylics.

I’m not sure they’re finished. I might add some details in black. We’ll see how I feel about them tomorrow.
